Last week I screened a young lady in her mid-thirties who has a substance abuse problem. She had mentioned that she had started drinking and has used cocaine ever since the age of 16 years old. What was heartbreaking to me was hearing her emotions as she explained her story, along with why she wanted to enter treatment which was because of her fiance being borderline ready to leave her due to her usage. The red flag with this client was that she had relapsed years ago after the passing of a family member. I am quite positive that I will have more encounters and stories to share, but this screening was something similar to a scenario that my professor would give me in class.
It’s never easy to quite without help …
Wish you and her both good luck!
I know you’ll be a great support to her!
The more I learn about outside resources will be another contributing factor for those I serve too.
She was very lucky to have someone that cared!
Addiction is a horrible place to be. Thank you for caring Thomas!
Yes indeed it is. And as I get deeper into the field I will have to continue to work on myself and think of ways to keep myself active while dealing with the realities of those I serve.
Thank you for all your efforts, you are making the world a better place!
I’m trying Doc, Im trying. I just hope that whomever I encounter passes the knowledge to another lost soul : )
Pay it forward is a great way to live!
