What Ollie had sent to Tricia was the transcript of that Friday fiasco.  Ollie represented (term used loosely) himself.  

Even from the few remarks of the judge, one could see that as the case began the verdict was certain to be; ‘whatever you want, the answer is no.’

It was not difficult to perceive the judge’s contempt for Ollie.  

The judge, finding a fool, led him down the wrong path, so that Ollie, who was totally unprepared and unaware of the judge’s manipulations, would let himself continue in that direction so that the judge could dismiss his case.

With more honesty than she had displayed in the past fifteen years, Tricia composed her response to Ollie’s email.
