The hotel restaurant began to descend into chaos. Cathy was shouting, Val and Benjie’s wife were calling her cheap, the husbands were arguing with each other.
The other guests at the hotel were becoming uncomfortable.
Some were leaving (without paying their bill) and the Assistant Manager invited Cathy to the office to ‘calculate the refund.’
Actually, he figured once he got her out of the dining room, things would calm down.
As she and her husband left the room, Benjie and Val and their wives stuffed their faces with the bread, drained the open wine, and went out of the Hotel.
One of the other guests who’d watched the show, asked his waiter what had happened and was told that the folks at the top table had organised a party for their father but he hadn’t shown.
The guest laughed and said, “I don’t blame him.”
