Years ago, when she graduated High School, Denny left the town and travelled a thousand miles to University.
As she’d lived all her short life moving from place to place, it was not much of a dislocation.
All she would miss would be Jamey; and she never had Jamey.
Denny moved into the dorm first. After two months, then took a small flat in walking distance.
During the years she was at University her parents visited and she visited them.
Whether she went to their home or they came to her’s, the protocols were in place. They would explore the town then nearby venues as if they were anthropologists in a strange country.
In this way, they would gain a fantastic store of knowledge about people and places, history and culture which made being rootless not much of a problem.
