I captured this garden spider and his massive web in my cypress trees. When I edited the photo in black and white for Kim’s challenge I realized the details are better and the web more visible. I am not a fan of spiders. But this garden spider (black and yellow) is a good one to have in your garden. He will eat the harmful insects and protect your plants. And he will not hurt you, just keep your distance and take photos, they are very photogenic!
Thanks, something a little different.
Are you going to eat that? Ha! Cool shot. Agreed! Spiders are very beneficial to gardeners. I actually make habitat for them by leaving weeds and grasses. Or is it a buffet?…Wiggin’ grin.
Sounds like a buffet to me. 🙂
SlUrP! Yep, definitely buffet. SpLaSh!
Great photo. Im not fond of spiders but some I will tolerate. They catch some harmful bugs.
Thanks, this is one I will always tolerate.
They are beautiful spiders….I know they’re spiders but God is an artist!!
Yes indeed they are Steve. And I definitely agree with you.
Have a great weekend! 🙂
Amazing close up! I’m scared of them too, and it looks huge!
They are probably more afraid of you.
Haha, it’s possible, but I’m almost sure that it’s the other way round. I’m even afraid of ants if there’s more than three of them. 😀
Well, the rule usually works to keep your distance. 🙂
That’s a cool shot, and edit! Great addition to the challenge 🙂
Thanks so much Courtney.
You’re right, Carol. They are harmless and very photogenic! In B&W, it’s so special!
Yes indeed, thank you Albert.
You are always welcome, Carol.
It looks like Japan’s banana spider
That sounds cool, I need to post him in color.
Wow! Such a beautiful shot!
Thank you Thomas, it was unexpected.
I have one in my bougainvillea its almost full grown now. I love watching them. This b & w turned out really good. The web shows such a great pattern, and the spider’s pattern as well.
Thanks Kim, I love these big spiders!
aww so Scarry, well good photography
Don’t be scared, they do not harm you, they eat insects.
The details are very nice. Congratulations, Carol
Thank you, the grayscale makes all the difference.
Greyscale is always a great choice for spider webs
I agree with you Alex.
unless there is condensation on the web, in which case you should opt for desaturation, IMHO
That has happened before with lots of fog.
for some reason, webs attract condensation
Carol I would keep using it. Look how perfect your camera has captured every part of the spider’s web. Just awesome!
Thanks, it is about the only camera I have used for years for my nature photos.
Excellent capture! Everybody here seems to have great cameras. This photo shows every detail perfectly.
Thanks LaJenna but I used my small Canon Powershot camera for this one.
Sorry Kim, none of the links for your name and challenge worked on my post. 🙁
