Shirley was a guide at the zoo. A fun job. Easy, no deadlines, no emergencies. Every day was more fun than work.
When Glen returned from that first posting there wasn’t any change in his outlook. When she asked about it, he said, “It was okay…” and wouldn’t say anymore.
She found a few coins from a foreign nation in his pocket and checked recent history and made a somewhat educated assumption of the mission he’d been on, but said nothing.
As her job wasn’t taxing, Glen came with her and enjoyed the days. It was fun being with him.
The next mission he was sent on was longer and she couldn’t contact him.
She was pregnant and thought about options but decided to have the baby.
Glad they decided to keep the baby.
