Song Saturday Dan Fogelberg Auld Ang Syne

An old phrase for the New Year uttered all around the English speaking world on New Year’s Eve.

The flower is a flower that was given to my wife as a gift. So far, we haven’t killed it. It bloomed the day before Christmas!

To old acquaintance!

This is my favorite version of the song. I was for many years a huge Fogelfollower – he has many songs but this one fits best for the upcoming New Year Holiday.

The song is both happy and sad. It is happy that both of the people in the song have moved on. It is sad because while they moved on from what was once love, there is still the reality of what was lost.

The snow turns into rain.

  1. That is a very beautiful flower. I know this song and parts of it bring memories. The song was popular when I was seeing someone at university and he wanted me to return on a New Year’s Eve after breaking up but I never did. However, today we have caught up and are keeping in touch by email

  2. Several years back I had a friend and we were just making friendly conversation over lunch. She mentioned she had gone shopping and bought some music albums. I asked what did she say and she started rattling off names of people I have never heard. One of the names was Dan Fogelberg. I’m she mentioned his name. I might have lived my entire life never knowing a really good artist. LOL.

  3. Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
    and never brought to mind?
    Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
    and auld lang syne? ?

Sometimes we do forget people in the process as we move along life. It is not a bad thing, I guess. It is just is.
