Saturday Song – Eve of Destruction

In 1965 the music charts had so much to choose from that it could get rather confusing. Instead as far as I am concerned most of the songs were great to listen to. Since I had to choose one I chose “Eve of Destruction” by Barry McGuire. Even though the song is from 1965 I guess I kind of feel we might be sitting on a keg of dynamite and at any time anything can happen.

“Eve of Destruction” was written as a protest song by P.F. Sloan. The recording by Barry McGuire is the best-known one. The song became an instant hit and rose to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
