Now I am picking songs that I enjoy for some discussion. “Do You Wanna Dance” by The Ramones is just the kind of song that can get you out of your seat and dancing. It has great music and I have always enjoyed it. I have not danced in ages but all during my teen years I really loved to bop to my favorite music.
During my teen years, my mom liked the kind of rock and roll and country music I listened to. She was great that way but when it came to doing any dancing she preferred popular Latvian music. It did not matter to me one way or the other because I knew both English and Latvian music. So when a boring Saturday night came along my mom and I would choose the music we wanted to listen to and taking turns would do some individual dancing. It was a lot of fun and we certainly got a lot of exercise too.
I guess the kind of dancing we did individually could be called interpretive dancing where you move to the music anyway that the music inspires you. This particular song brings back memories.
“Do You Wanna Dance” was written by American singer Bobby Freeman and recorded in 1958. The Ramones recorded their version in 1977 and gave this song a real beat
