Former Congress Congress leader Sajjan Kumar, who was awarded life imprisonment in a case related to the anti-Sikh riots, may surrender to the court on December 31st because the Delhi High Court has rejected his request for extension of the deadline.
Sajjan Kumar’s lawyer Anil Kumar Sharma said that there is no possibility of hearing before December 31 during the winter holiday on appeal filed in the apex court against the High Court verdict.
The Supreme Court shall be closed till January 2 and therefore the lawyer of Sajjan Kumar said,” we will fight against the High Court verdict”.
In a matter related to the 1984 riots, on December 17, 73-year-old former MP Sajjan Kumar was sentenced to life imprisonment for the remaining days of his life and sentenced to five other convicts for different period.
The High court had ordered Sajjan Kumar to Surrender till December 32st of 2018 at any cost.
