Out of Disaster – part 13

Other  People’s Past

Cord was a great father.   I had experience and his actions proved he did too.    But we never uttered a word.  We  never betrayed this wasn’t our first time as parents.

Myra,  our landlady, chased us back to work.   She would never have children so wanted to be a parent to the only one she might ever be near.

Her life was a complete tragedy.

Her father had been a fire fighter who died, her mother was just clinging to existence.   She never got the chance to go beyond High School.

She  was virtually handed a job at the station where her father died, met Bob, and they married.

They had no children.  They hadn’t minded, not for the first five years, after all, Myra was young.

But as they got older, (Bob being ten years older than Myra) they began to wonder.   They were tested and both, oddly enough, were sterile.

They had thought of adoption.

They were actually considering the steps to adopt, when Bob died, a hero.
