Katherine returned from her run, was getting ready for work when Marvin stood in front of her.
“We need to talk…” he said.
“Not now, later.” Kathrine replied.
“There is never a later…” he said, but she went into the bathroom, closed the door, took her shower, came out, moving quickly to the kitchen, ate a breakfast of yoghurt, then went to dress.
She was out of the house in a quarter of an hour.
Kathrine went to work, and although she was off at six hung around a bit so didn’t reach home until seven.
The house was quiet.
She made herself a meal, ate, and began to wonder about the quiet. She called Marvin’s name.
There was no answer.
