Tom came from the river and walked about ten minutes to reach his ‘shack’. He’d built it in the second month of his marriage.
His wife, Verna, had made a fuss when he arrived home with a ‘stinking fish’ which ‘stunk up the whole house’.
Tom didn’t reply that it was his house. He took his fish outside, cleaned it, cooked it on the Barbecue.
Maybe another man would have flung it away, but Tom didn’t, ever, waste food.
Those years ago he had eaten his fish, cleaned up, and decided to build a little shack where he could cook his fish.
As he worked Monday to Friday he would gather his supplies after work, keep them in his pick-up truck.
