Verna always went to the beauty parlour on Sunday afternoon.
Tom would spend the morning fishing sometimes returning after she’d gone. Sometimes, as today, returning just before she left.
She kissed him on the forehead and went out. Soon he heard her car driving out.
He now had at least four hours until she returned.
He shut off the television and went onto the back patio and relaxed with a beer.
