Just for Fun Challenge number 9! Shadows and Silhouettes

It seems that Virily users would like to see some Shadows and Silhouette posts! This is now the new theme for the month of May! I would love to see everyone try to post at least one post about this topic.

1. Post silhouettes or shadows.

2. Post in Challenges.

3. Use Just for Fun in the title.

4. Use #jff hashtag.

Enjoy.

Last month the topic was trees. I loved all the posts everyone put in for this challenge. Here is the link: Just for Fun… Trees Challenge for April!

For this month the choices were Letters and Numbers, Shadows and Silhouettes and Down Low.

So are you ready for silhouettes or maybe some cool shadows??

Here are a few of mine and some fun facts about silhouettes.

Number 1

My pepper tree silhouette.

Silhouette definition:  A dark shape seen against a light back round.

Number Two: Doberman

Fun Fact:

Before the age of the photograph, the silhouette was cut from paper or painted, and was the most affordable portrait that could be made. During the second half of the 18th century and the first half of the 19th century many people collected them.

Number Three: Man at the bay.

Fun Fact:

The man whom the name came from: Etienne de Silhouette was France’s finance minister under Louis XV and was notorious for both his frugality and his  hobby of making cut-paper shadow portraits.

Number 4: Dogs and kids

Fun Fact:

The phrase, a la Silhouette came to mean “on the cheap”.

Have fun with this Challenge!
