The gifted child is presumed to want to do extra work, to skip grades, so that entering the work force is a year or two early.
Of course, if one is really intelligent the appreciation of childhood will overwhelm this.
Why race through the halcyon days of childhood where one is responsible for nothing, where one has endless time to play and be silly?
Why give up time to simply enjoy life?
A really intelligent child will notice that the average or dunce kids have very little school work. Have a lot of time to live.
Where the child in advanced class may have two hours of homework, the child in average class has so much less. A gifted child can finish all that average class homework during lunch break.
This means that when school is over, all of it is over, and play time begins.
