Hard To Get – 9

Shermon was redecorating his restaurant.  It was the eve of a holiday and he wanted it to be perfect.

He had a few more items to place, when the customers began pounding on the door.

“Just Wait!” he barked as he hung another lantern,  “Soon open!”  he shouted as he ran more crepe,  “Soon open!”  he called as he moved a table.

He thought he’d be finished by the usual opening time, but wanted it all perfect.  Finally, completed, Shermon went to the door.

There was no one there.

Across the plaza he saw many of his favorite customers frolicking at his competitor. They seemed happy.   And he had the feeling, they wouldn’t be back.
