The day passed easily. Mike forced himself to focus on the sea, the sun, the food, trying not to think about what could happen tonight.
But the question; what is the relationship between Mike and Emily?
Friends? Coworkers?
They had never had a ‘me’ conversation. Never talked personal history, feelings, or memories. He knew as much about Inner Emily today as he did six months ago when she walked in the door.
If a gun was put to his head all he could say was what team she followed, what food she chose from the buffet.
Of course, she could answer the same about him because he never peeled his armour either.
Yet here they were, at a Hotel, sharing a room… yes… separate beds. But still… what was their relationship?
