This frame is now empty. A long time ago, this carved wooden frame contains a unique painting of a couple Balinese dancers.
I had it about thirty years ago. At that time I went to Bali with my client group, beyond that and as agreed, my girlfriend at that time, came after she adjusted her schedule with my itinerary. She was a flight attendant.
After the group of clients returned to Jakarta, we enjoyed our time together by visiting several tourist attractions there, as well as to some art galleries and some Balinese friends who were the original Balinese painters. During the visit, one of the painters gave us a special painting of a couple of Bali dancers as a gift. The reason for the gift was a sign of friendship and symbol of the hopeful intimate relationship between the two of us, me and my girlfriend. Several years later, after so many events, and after my girl declared that she was going to marry someone else, and after I was with my whole family attending her wedding party then I kept the painting in the warehouse along with many other kinds of stuff.
Two weeks ago, I and all of my siblings with the rest of their family gathered at my mother’s residence. By the time I went to the warehouse looking for my old photo albums, I found the painting again in very bad condition. What’s left was just a dull frame I brought home after I’d clean it up.
The painting has gone, indeed, but the fragments of the memories would not disappear, though the feeling which binding it had gone together with the entire calendar sheets that have been torn over time. I intend to make this frame beautiful again and replace its contents with another painting.
As we all know, the frame is just a memory, but we do not live in the memory. After that frame, I have so many next frames. How about you?
By the way, have a great weekend!

The frame is nicely made and the details are well carved.
Thanks for your visit and kind comment, TZ my friend
This frame that represents a significant part of your life is a work of art, reminding that the work of art called life is a gift.
Wuaw… It turns out my kind friend, Roberta, is a philosophical lady! That’s extraordinary! Thank you for your valuable comment.
For the time, this picture was very valuable to you. From the vicious I know, to you my dear friend. Your family is very cohesive and cooperative. Give a new look and life to this wonderful frame with carving and put a family picture.
Aww… You have given me a very valuable compliment, my dear friend, Elenka. I feel proud and honorable. Thank you very much.
Its beautiful and the story is great, also very true. You will have to show us the finished product.
Aww… Thank you very much for your compliment, Kim. Just wait until there is time for me to finish it, and put a painting there.
This is a beautiful frame worthy of a priceless painting.
Huge thanks, Della. I’m thinking, if you have a photo while you are dancing Balinese dance, I will place your photo in that frame. That would be great!
Hahahaha. I will need to go for some lessons first.
I really hope there is a club or someone who can give you a lesson there… Hehehe… …
Great photo….and thanks for sharing your story.
Thank you very much for your compliment, Courtney. I really appreciate it
My pleasure, I’m glad to 🙂
Very interesting and thought-provoking post again! I agree with Carol, every little has its story.
I meant “every little object has its story”.
I also agree with Carol and you, Ellie. Do you also agree with me? Hehehe…
Wow, you really spoke to me once again. This frame represents more than just a frame. Life is like this, as you know. It’s not about things, it’s the memories that are tucked away in our hearts. Cannot wait to see what you do with this treasure.
Again, suppose I dedicate this post to you. This post should have appeared yesterday, unfortunately, it seems the admin is off for the weekend. Means my post today will show up tomorrow. Well, Carol, it seems like I’m getting more and more expert to talk about you. Hehehe… You are right, I have indeed deliberately searched this frame for me to post here, again as an illustration of the idea that I will convey. We have very many frames for countless fragments in our memories, but may our lives not be trapped in those old frames.
I am learning so much on my grief journey(s) in life. Memories are indeed forever in our hearts, not in things. The things only represent what used to be, what is in our past. We have to move forward knowing by doing so we are not leaving those memories behind.
That’s it! Once again, the wisdom that you hide appears to be broader, deeper, and clearer! Hahayyy…
It is all from losing so many in my life, learning the hard way. But the best part is I am learning.
Right again. The best part is you are willing to learn (in a hard way), take all the precious wisdom and keep moving forward! Not everyone who experiences what you have experienced can behave like you.
Thank you as always Albert for the support and encouragement. I have been down way too long. It is my time to shine. Everyone I have lost would want that for me. 🙂
Yeah, Carol. Everyone… just everyone…
