Eric was fairly certain that his son, Steven had only married Carla to spite him. This was quite insightful.
Everyone who knew Steven,who’d seen his wife, spent any time with him saw a man who married a woman to ‘fix’ his father and only wound up fixing himself.
Of course, Eric didn’t expect better of Steven. The fact he could dress and feed himself, even operate a car was, in Eric’s world view the farthest he could go.
He’d always felt he was retarded, maybe not in the strict definition of the word, but when it came to life, he was far below average. It was as if, before he acted, he looked around to ascertain what would be the most repulsive thing he could say or do, and that was Steven’s choice.
