Barry's Diaries – 36

Barry could look back on his past, seeing the Nobarry walking into the cafeteria, unaware of who was there, what they saw, or even how he walked.

Barry asked himself; How was it possible for someone to live fifteen years as if he were in a bubble, not mixed into a crowd of others, each with an opinion?

He thought of this lunch break; how he’d completed his work  quickly, visited the cafeteria.

How he’d paused by the door, glanced around, strode to the counter, looked at each item, made his choice, paid, went to an empty table, sat, ate, deposited his tray and departed; every action done with focus.

How could he have lived for fifteen years and never realised this?
