Barry's Diaries -23

Barry went walking in town. He stopped into a few shops as if he was bored, looked at a few things, saying he’d think about a purchase.

He noticed people lining for a street side food truck and listened to what they ordered, how they ate, and imitated.

He listened to voices, conversations, picking up the accent, the phrasing.

He returned home at four, practiced talking as he looked in the mirror.

He couldn’t sound like these folks, it would be too obvious an imitation, but he could catch the phrasing and the slang, which he could pop in so as he wouldn’t seem brand new.
