Barry's Diaries – 14

Once settled, Barry walked around the new neighbourhood, getting acclimated.  He visited the school he would attend.

He saw some kids and checked how they dressed and acted, giving them all category names.

He looked for the lunch spot, the hang out, so that when he officially became part of the community he wouldn’t be a tourist.

For the first in his life, Barry Smith was loving himself.  Loving himself for who he now was.

He loved how he walked, how he had an easy expression on his face.   Loved how he’d shove back his hair with a casual gesture.

He admired how he was so aware of his position in space, and how he knew about hang outs.
