Alone, Not Lonely – 5

Those who are afraid of their own company cling to their cell phones as security blankets.  They feel if they hold their phone they are not alone.   They spend hours on their phones, saying nothing, but fighting the fear of alone.

Being able to embrace one’s own company is of great psychological benefit.

Firstly, it makes reliance on others less vital.

Those who can be alone can survive the loss of a loved one.   Those who can not be alone can not survive without someone telling them what to do, how to live.   For alone, they don’t know what they like, or want or what to do or what to think.

They have spent their lives  as sheep, going along with the crowd.   They are ‘free’ from having to make decisions or exist as a singular individual.
