You have to go over the abusive relationship no matter how hard it is so that you don’t misinterpret.
For example;
Ann was married to Bob. Bob was ‘jealous’ . He would get ‘jealous’ over nothing and beat her.
Ann never examined their relationship after she left Bob. She just made a connection between jealousy and beating.
She got into a relationship with Don, who was nothing like Bob.
When Don mentioned that it looked like her old friend Steve was ‘hitting on her’ she immediately took that as jealousy.
Ann destroyed her relationship with Don.
