365 Day Photo Challenge Day 62

Back to wondering about drivers. Yesterday there was a new traffic/safety report about drivers and driving in the US. Maryland rated the 3rd worst state for driving. Mostly because of two things, traffic jams, and aggressive drivers.

Ergo the image of the sign. This sign sits on the road that leads to our house. It is a major road that goes from Germantown to Darnestown Maryland. The sign in question sits in front of the volunteer firehouse (thanks to all who serve in police and fire departments, you are amazing human beings!). Why this sign? This sign says to everyone in the right lane, speed up. Roughly a ¼ mile up the hill from this sign is a major four-way traffic light intersection. There are two lanes on Germantown road, where the sign is. But after the firehouse, there is only one lane on Germantown road. That means if you are in the right lane you have to drive like a crazy person to get into the left lane.

Aggressive drivers of Maryland, the sign is on our daily walk route. Every day we walk by and count the number of important people that sit in the right lane, and then speed up to cut off the people in the left lane. We’ve almost seen some accidents.

Sad.

    • I agree. It just makes me sad overall. Many years ago a friend of my father told me “when I started out late, I got there late.” I have lived by that rule since hearing it.
