Just a picture of my desk and the current state of clutter. I had cleaned off the desk a month ago and based on various projects I have managed to fill it back up. When I first moved from teaching to IT many years ago, I used to freak out over unfinished projects. I would burn the midnight oil to get the project off my plate. I quickly realized first, that burning many more hours than required isn’t a good thing, but also, that things have a natural pattern. Systems view is something I found and embraced. In fact that systems view is how I normally explain the reality of what we do as we react to the world around us. But taking a systems view of projects is very important. If you rush to finish something, that is part of another system, it doesn’t matter if in your rush you are done first, and the rest of the system is still in flight.
The adage my old boss used to say – all parts of the airplane must arrive assembled before the plane takes off. All airplanes must also arrive all parts intact at the destination for it to be a successful flight. He would often joke if the wheels arrive (falling from the sky) before the jet arrives it is a problem. All things have a flow, finding the flow is critical!
Anyone can join the open photo challenge. Just post pictures that are seven days or less old!

I think, naturally we live in a system and live life with various systems and install and use various special system to work in system, hence ensuring that no system failure is absolute. Btw, old boss you have a good analogy.
Thanks, Mon Ami! He was a great boss, I had a couple over the next few years, but also had some really bad bosses.
I can imagine and understand why you are fit to work as a team with him.
It was fun, he always sad work hard, play hard!
He’s a great leader with great passion!
Yes he was. It was just the wrong long term fit for me as a person to stay there. Eventually that compnay was bought out and became something else. Not something that I was interested in.
