365 Day Photo Challenge Day 172

Today’s picture is of a camera. But not a normal every day, point at something and shoot an image. Well, you still point it at the object you wish o photograph, but it is a special camera. It connects to my telescope and allows me to take pictures of objects not currently in the earth’s atmosphere. I know, geez the weather geek has some geeky cameras. The problem I have currently is that there is so much light pollution where I live, that the images don’t come out very well. I need to pack my telescope up and take it to the boat and go out on the Bay at night to photograph the night sky. Less light pollution to impact the images. This camera has been adapted to take low light and long exposure pictures. It also takes video.

For me, this goes back to my argument about the camera that fits the job. I suspect it also goes back to the reality of my being a geek. When the kids were little, I used to show them things that were near earth all the time. Now, because we used to do that then, it is hard for me to get rid of the various scientific devices I had to show them the world then, now. As a parent sometimes it is hard to let go of the things that remind you of when your kids were little (when they are big). My parents both told me that one of the hardest things they had to do was let go of their children. It is truly hard to do. Not, that mine are pulling away and heading off into near earth orbit. Just letting them be themselves can be hard.

I am working on it!

Anyone can join the photo challenge. Grab your weather station, cell phone, DSLR, SLR, telescope or digital point and shoot camera, point it, shoot the picture and share it. The rules are all over Virily.

          • That’s true! When I first got into photography, I had a semi-professional camera, but I quickly realized that it’s hard to use. Now I am very happy with using just a phone camera. However, taking the time to learn it is definitely worth it, but I am just too lazy. 😀 Best of luck to you!
