365 Day Photo Challenge: Day 15 A Perfect Sunset

This evening I stopped shooting and just sat and watched the ducks. They kept their distance but they walked about like I wasn’t even there and that’s just what I needed I guess.

There was the sound of the highway, cars rushing by and the sound of wind as if the city were literally breathing. I say city, it’s really more of a town but it’s hard to get away from the sounds of people and traffic.

I am wanting desperately to sit beneath a dark silent sky where the only thing that moves are the stars shooting through the darkness. I need to get out and far away where the lights of the city doesn’t spoil the view of the stars.

For the moment, the silence of the water and the ducks splashing and calling was just enough peace for me. You have to gather moments and make them special. The problem I’ve had with the season this year, I’ve had a hard time feeling the moment.

The tree is up and all lit but I still don’t feel the holiday. I know I will and it’s just a matter of time. Tonight was a start at getting that peaceful moment.
