As we’ve been trying to reduce the amount of clutter around the house, I came across an old Christmas CD that I recorded for my parents. I did several a cappella versions of traditional Christmas carols. Here’s one of them.
Though thought to be written in the 12th century, the first published version of the lyrics date back to 1710. The melody that we’re familiar with today wasn’t applied to the hymn’s text until 1851.
