My Favorite Season…

Friday, 10.12.18

I just realized that I do not really have a favorite season because I equally enjoy each season. My favorite season is actually the changing of seasons. When one season is over, I am ready for the new season because I just need that change. Summer is fun because it is very hot, sunny, and long daylight hours, where there is usually lots of fun outdoor activities, picnics, swimming, going to the beach, or just going on trip.

By autumn, the weather is cool, but crisp and clean, due to the occasional rain cleansing the earth, giving it a fresh feeling or even a fresh smell of morning dew. I like the colorful leaves on trees. It just feels festive that I feel like buy pumpkin spice flavored food and drinks.

By winter, the weather is even cool, and the winter decoration is fun and colorful. It is fun to dress up in warm, layered clothing, for a change, even in Southern California. I like wearing boots, scarves, knit hats, gloves, mittens,  earmuffs, legwarmers, and pea coat. But the layers aren’t much, just for a trendy look, although I am sure the coastal area is very cold and windy during the wintertime. When I lived in the east coast, it used to be very cold with lots of snow, and we used to wear ten layers of clothing and a big coat. When we arrived in school in the morning, we used to take a poll to see who was wearing the most layers. And, sometimes, school was cancelled due to too much snow, which was cool. We ended up staying home and playing outside, building snowman family and sledding. Then, drinking warm drinks like hot cocoa. I also seem to drink lots of hot soups in a mug during cold winters.

By spring, I am ready for longer daylight hours again. The weather is sunny, but a little cool, windy, breezy, and sometimes rainy. The colorful flowers pop out and birds start chirping their music. It is the beautiful season of nature. And, it symbolizes a new beginning, mostly because March was originally the first month of the calendar before they later added January and February. It is no wonder that Jesus’ real birthday is on March 20th, in which the Messiah is the symbol of a new beginning for many people.
