Johnny Depp recording film in Belgrade (Serbia)

The famous actor in our capital, Belgrade, is filming the film “Minamata”, in which he plays the leading role, the famous photo reporter William Eugene Smith, and will not receive a fee for his work! He is also the executive film producer. When an actor chooses to engage in such an engagement, he signs a contract whereby such types of payments are discarded, but he is paid out of cinema profits, and sells rights to television stations.

The expenses of his stay, a large number of security, as well as his own servants – chefs, masseurs, waiters – daily amounts to 10,000 euros. The night in the apartment in which Depp is staying all over is 7,500 euros.In Serbia, they will spend a total of seven weeks, while later they will move to Montenegro, where they will spend two more. Recording began in Japan, and  with Johnny traveling 200 people.

Depp  greatly interprets Eugene Smith, who has produced photographs that testify to the World War II pollution that damaged the health of the residents of the Japanese city of Minamata. Poisoning of mercury inhabitants of the Japanese city of Minamata, caused by the discharge of heavy metals from the local factory. When he started publishing a photo essay, he was assaulted by employees mentioned factory. Eugene remained alive, but he suffered serious injuries, and his wife, Japanese , Aileen Mioko Smith, continued to work for him. The film “Minamata” is based on their book-journal and photos.
