Happy Groundhog Day

Sunday, February 2, 2020

In Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, Phil the Groundhog predicts an early Spring. It is his 134th prediction. The cute furry rodent was then carried up in the air to celebrate spring will start early this year. Groundhog Day is a German legend that has to do with a groundhog predicting springtime on February 2nd. If the groundhog casts a shadow on this day, then winter will continue until mid-March. If there isn’t any shadow, then springtime will start early.

Moreover, there is a group on Gobbler’s Knob, which is northeast of Pittsburgh, who also do the prediction.

I remember watching the movie, Groundhog Day, starring Bill Murray and Andie MacDowell.

(I added a snapshot of local brown rabbits because I don’t have a picture of a groundhog).

  1. I always feel sorry for the groundhogs. One day a year someone plucks them out of their homes and they cannot understand what all the fuss is about. I wish there was a way all this could be explained to them I really do.
