Fascinating summer – 2018 in Sweden: an ocean of festivities

The Swedish summer in 2018 will be full of music, sports, festivals and exhibitions. Let’s have a look at this diversity.

The main musical impact will be on Stockholm and Gothenburg. You will have a cool chance to enjoy the work of the world music scene stars. The list of artists includes a great variety of trends: from Hollywood Vampires (6 June – Gothenburg) to Katy Perry (10 June – Stockholm), from Marilyn Manson (6 June – Stockholm) and The Offspring (27 June – Gothenburg) to Jay Z and Beyoncé (25 June – Stockholm), from Eminem (2 July – Stockholm) to Justin Timberlake (31 July – Stockholm), from Europe (31 August – Stockholm) Guns N’ Roses (21 July – Gothenburg) and Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters (18 August – Stockholm) to Ed Sheeran (10 July – Gothenburg ,14 July – Stockholm).

Also welcome to festivals of jazz, alternative, electronic and chamber music; mega-popular Summerburst (15-16 June – Stockholm), Way Out West + Stay out West (9-11 August – Gothenburg).

As for sports, football will sparkle in Gothenburg: World Cup Qualifying Match: Sweden – Croatia – 7 June, International Friendlie Sweden-Peru – 9 June, Football At The Terrace – 18 June, 23 June, 27 June, Gothia Cup 2018 – 15-21 July. And one more important football event from Stockholm: International Championship Cup: Arsenal Chelsea.

Are you ready for cultural entertainment? OK. Let’s start to celebrate everyone’s favorite Midsummer, which marks the middle of the summer (Stockholm, Skansen; Garden Society of Gothenburg, Gunnebo House, Tjolöholm Castle, Slottsskogen City Park, Nääs, Gothenburg – 22 June).

Wish to meet with Vikings or to see the real medieval tournament of knights? No problem! Vikings with their exciting crafts, games and recreations will be waiting for you in the Swedish History Museum (18-21 June and 24 June-26 August). And if you want to become a knight’s apprentice and enjoy the tournament, you should visit Skokloster Castle (located between Stockholm and Uppsala) in 19-21 June and 27-29 July.

  6. Wonderful pictures! I was really enjoying them until the World Cup part, with the US not in the world cup it is really hard to watch. I love futbol, and don’t have a team to root for now. Perhaps I shall return to my family heritage and root for the teams from Scandinavia!
