The Bitter Struggle with Congress

The United States citizens and the members of the United States congress are in a bitter struggle. It seems fitting to define the terms.

Congress is a national legislative body, especially that of the US. The US Congress, which meets at the Capitol in Washington, D.C., was established by the Constitution of 1787 and is composed of the Senate and the House of Representatives.

So who is having a bitter struggle with congress? The simplified answer would be that everyone is fighting with congress. The infighting in congress itself has created a situation where financial personal gain is the most obvious goal. Meet with a lobbyist, get financial gain. It’s very real and it happens every day. The parties are fighting with each other. The President is fighting with them.

In fighting in congress has come to an all time high. I refuse to put the blame on one person. In fact, I could go through them individually and take a gander if we had the time and desire. Like most American citizens I am just tired of the corruption and infighting. There is not one person in congress who cares what I believe, what I think, what my concerns are, or who I am. That’s a shame.

The average American citizen is really at battle with the congress. They are paid whether they choose to do the job they were elected to do or not. I really don’t care about any political affiliation. I have come to the conclusion that they may begin with a good intent and when they arrive the quickly learn all about money and power. The average American is powerless.

Let’s take a look for just a moment at the government partial shut down. I have a family member that is directly affected. The person is under the “hardship”  label which means, during the shut down the attendance policies are not reviewed and they are not required to submit and documentation. While that is reasonable since they are not getting paid a “real” business could not offer that and stay in business.

Congress is a playground where adults are playing games like children to get fame, money and power. The sad part it that it is working for them. Does anyone in power really care? I would have to say no. They don’t even bother to reply. I volunteer to be the playground supervisor for a week  and give them a dose of  reality.

  1. Here are their salaries:
    Speaker of the House: $223,500
    Majority and Minority Leaders: $193,400
All other Representatives (including Delegates and Resident Commissioner from Puerto Rico): $174,000
    President pro tempore: $193,400
    Majority and Minority Leaders: $193,400
    All other Senators: $174,000

Despite this they tend to leave office as multi-millionaires. Where does all that money come from. They also get a pension for life.

I don’t think that all of them are corrupt but there are quite a few who are.
