Skills and Qualities that Enhance Resilience – Drive and Motivation

Motivation is driving force that leads towards the achievement of goals.  Animals have an internal compass that drives them to make journeys of many thousands of miles across unfamiliar terrains to breed, for food or to live in more favourable environments.  Migration takes place in teams, with a sociability factor, that ensures that the group works towards its ultimate goal successfully.

Examples of questions you might use when coaching around Drive and Motivation

– Where does your drive come from?  What motivates you?

– How much do you rely on others or a team to support your drive towards a goal?

– What do you see as successful outcomes for yourself and for others?

– Sociability can be a great driver supporting motivation as everyone works together towards the same goal. How dependent are you upon others to remain motivated?

– What are the aspects of your motivation that can benefit the group?  What aspects of your motivation benefits from the support of the group?  How much are you able to motivate yourself independently of others?

– How much do you concern yourself with the harmony?

– How do you view conflict?  How much does conflict affect the group?  How does this affect your feelings of long term security?
