Boss from Hell, losing his employees, now needful, apologises, maybe even sheds a tear, to get you back onto his ‘plantation.’
You think, he changed. You think that he was forced to change.
Mike, the archetypical Boss from Hell, wound up going to jail for a fraud (exposed by his employees). When he came out, and started another business, he tried to gather a few of the loyal ex-employees to help him.
It seemed he had learned his lesson. He has been ‘rehabilitated’.
He was playing them. He will play you. He will never change.
He is behaving ever so humble as a beard. If he can get you back under his control, even for a week, he feels as if he’s won the lottery.
No matter how nice he seems, buying you lunch, paying for your suit, whatever, this is only bait. In a short time he will return to being that despicable slave master.
It is better to collect bottles for refunds than to subject your soul to someone who will destroy it.
