Mike is a Boss From Hell. Those who must associate with him survive by developing the worst traits. Things that one would despise in others becomes part of one’s self. It is ugly, but it is survival.
I use the term ‘unworking’ to distinguish what is being done from simply not working. To do nothing for an hour or two is simply not working.
To do things wrong deliberately, to misfile to delay, to divert, to cause breakdowns, is unworking.
Many angry employees use both methods.
They may arrive on time but do nothing for an hour, and stop working an hour before quitting time. This is not working. They may prepare documents in such a way that they must be done over, may appear to be working but be playing games on the office provided computer with office provided internet, is unworking.
In a few cases, the stress of working for a Boss From Hell actually causes the employee to make mistakes. The BfH embraces them as proof of the inferiority of the employee.
