Female Founders Talk About Their Business Startups

Thursday, April 12, 2018

Meetup site at 9 am: Female Founder Demo Day with Webinar Host, Jonathan Greechan. He talks with the following female founders about their startups: Christine Herron, Director at Intel Capital and Co-Lead Intel Capital Diversity Fund, is a startup investor. Claire McTaggart, Founder of SquarePeg, Hoda Mehr, Founder of Stock Card, Vanessa Clark, Founder of Atomos Nuclear and Space, and Barbara Timm Brock, Founder of ETrack Tech.

Vanessa is in Colorado. She talks about going into Deep Space via Space Tugs, satellite operators, and launch providers to reach new orbits. It might even increase internet usage and internet traveling. It starts with launching a geostationary earth orbit. She lists her milestones and marketing plan. There is technical risk within the 12-month period.

Hoda is in Silicon Valley. She talks about building the investment platform for the future. Data platform involves making investment research and visualizing date in an intuitive format.

Claire is in New York. She has a job-matching service. But she was experiencing too much technical issues and had connection problems. She was able to connect at the end of the webinar. Hiring has to do with intelligence and personalized information. Resumes, behavior and role fit analyzation play a big part in making a good job match. Job boards, assessment tools and smart tools help make certain connections. The team’s background is in business, science, and technical backgrounds.

Barbara is in transforming fleet management as well as repairing machinery and equipment.

This webinar is like watching a webinar version of Shark Tank. But there were technical issues because the chat was filled with people from all over the world watching this webinar. I had to reconnect a couple of times.

These startups were based on starting with a marketing or business plan, creating achievable and realistic milestones, being a risk-taker, and turning a negative obstacle into a positive stepping stone toward a milestone or goal. It is also important to check one’s business progress in order to make sure the business is moving forward. Or, make the required changes to improve issues, obstacles or situation.
