And Comes the Fourth Generation – part 6

When  the members of the Church  were rich and had power, the Alexander family donated one of their properties as a ‘refuge’.

The idea was that any ill or indigent church members would have a shelter.

The property consisted of two mansions in a up scale area of town.   The officers of the Church gratefully named the gift  Miriam House after   Miriam Alexander,   the eldest member of the family.

The front mansion had three bedrooms, the one at the rear had two.

The  younger members of the Alexander family, having interests in other places, had migrated, leaving the few elderly members.

The use of the buildings of Miriam House for the purpose specified,  lasted until the death of the  last local member of the Alexander  family.
