School Scam

A teacher, a guidance councilor, maybe even the Principal, hooks up with some ‘child psychologist’. For every student referred, that teacher, guidance councilor; whomever, gets a nice juicy kick back.

Psychiatrists are medical doctors. They have to get into medical school. They do the same courses as the student who is going to major in cardiology or neurology.

A psychologist is not a doctor. They have a Bachelor of Science. Some go on to get a masters, some don’t. But they all think they know everything.

They align with a school and get a member of staff to send patients to them.

Lots of kids whose parents appear to have a few extra dollars are spoken to by the staff member who suggests they take the child to see this particular psychologist. They give a kind of blanket ‘diagnosis’ such as, “Your child seems to have communication issues,”  or  “Your child seems to have difficulty relating to others,”  what ever catchwords are in vogue.

Nervous parents race to the psychologists office and waste money.

It is easy to test whether or not there is a real problem.

1) Tell the school you are taking your child to a different practitioner. A psychiatrist of some importance. This means no referral fee to the staff member.

2) Tell the staff member, (if it is a private school)  that you can’t afford school fees and psychologist fees so you’ll have to remove your child from the school and announce you need to speak to the Principal.

This usually results with a retraction by the Staff Member.
