Melissa (Melissa officinalis L.) – even bees adore it

Today, I checked some more herbs on my terrace. In addition to flowers, I also have some herbs on the terrace, among them is melissa. Melissa is also used as a spice or for medicinal purposes. In the summer I made syrup (juice) from melissa. Since melisa is always working, I decided to pick up the leaves and so I will have another homemade tea.

Melissa is a Mediterranean spice and plant, which due to its properties can be used for healing purposes. The plant got this name because of the rich flowers on which bees want to graze. Both dry and fresh leaves are excellent spice in the kitchen, are used for sauces, soups, meat, vegetables Melissa products, such as tea, are liked by many because of the specific taste. A melissa is also known for its many beneficial effects on our body and well-being.One of the important features of this plant is its calming effect. The enjoyment of melis, say melissa tea, has a beneficial effect on the individual’s calm and relaxation.

In addition to calming, melissa should also help achieve general well-being and mood. It should primarily help people who have problems with insomnia, anxiety, general well-being and various symptoms related to stress. If you are not teas lovers, you can use melissa in different ways. Some people, for example, use it as a fragrance of a smaller area due to a special smell, and the use of melisin essential oil is also possible.

  1. I had this at my old place. I’ll add it here.
I read that you can cut it three times during a summer. For drying for tea you should use the first cuttings. I made a iced tea from it fresh –> A handful of fresh leaves (12 -16), one earl grey tea bag, pour in 12 cups boiling water and steep for 10 minutes. Then strain out the leaves and tea bag and let cool. I bottled it and put in the refrigerator. This tea was awesome. Never put any sugar in it. Great on a hot day.
