Health benefits of breastfeeding

Mother’s milk contains everything the baby needs in the first six months of life – nutrients, minerals, vitamins, water, antibodies – literally everything! Mother’s milk improves the immune system of the baby, reduces the chance of life-related illnesses – allergies, asthma, various types of infections, diabetes. Breastfeeding is not just a benefit for the baby, but for the mother as well. Immediately after giving birth, it helps to restore the uterus to its original size, and postpartum bleeding is less. Some studies show that they have a lower risk of developing late breast and ovarian cancer.

Breastfeeding is much simpler – there are no bottles, sterilizers, bottle washing brushes. It is free and healthy. It should not hurt if the breastfeeding is done properly. It is possible that the breasts are more sensitive during the first few days, but if you the woman is persistent enough it should be all right in time.

Breast-feeding primarily protects the baby from: diarrhea, inflammation and respiratory tract infections, middle ear inflammation, diabetes. Babies are less affected by asthma, allergies, eczema, urinary tract infections, have less dental problems, better vision. Likewise, heart disease is prevented by breastfeeding.

Breastfeeding is not only good for physical health of the mother but also mental. Research has shown that breastfeeding significantly reduces postpartum depression and anxiety.
