A Great Way to Boost Your Energy in the Morning

This 10 minute Qi Gong ( chi gong) exercise is a great way to boost your energy in the morning or at any time of the day.

Qi Gong (or pronounced as Chi Gong), literally means “life energy cultivation”, is a system of cultivating and balancing chi or life energy. Chi Gong has its roots from Chinese philosophy and martial arts. Typically it involves slow flowing movements, matched with deep breathing and meditative state of mind. Chi Gong, is like a moving meditation.

Personally, I have been training in a Japanese martial art known as Aikido for many years now. Part of our preparation before each session is meditative breathing. During practice, we should always match our movements with our breathing.

Like in this video, each movement is matched by the rhythm of breathing in order to boost your energy.

I do this exercise not just in the morning, but also when I need a burst of energy.

  1. Good question. Both arts aims to cultivate life energy. But I suppose one main difference are in the forms. In Qigong, as seen in this videos, the movements are repeated, whereas in Tai chi the movements are more like free flowing. One form follows another.

I believe there are more difference between the at the higher levels of practice.
