Dealing With False Memory – 15

When one goes to a physician, personal history is vital.

Sometimes the doctor will talk to other members of the patient’s family.    The actual history of the patient, not what they feel like admitting, but the truth, is vital.

In the early days of psychiatry, doing this kind of back check was standard.  One needed to know about the patient, not just what the patient wanted to relay or even recalled.

Today, one can walk into an therapists office, describe totally fabricated events, give a false history, and unless the therapist catches them in a lie or discrepancy, will accept the story.

It becomes worse when a therapist has their own agenda and believes that certain personality traits or issues are the result of sexual abuse.

This is why suddenly there is so much sexual abuse going around.
