On the Wind, Madeira acrylic seascape painting by Alex Solodov

On the Wind, Madeira – acrylic seascape painting by Alex Solodov portrayed a girl with her hair blowing on the wind on Sao Lourenco (VEREDA DA PONTA DE SÃO LOURENÇO) – one of the longest and the finest cliff on Madeira island, Portugal.

This peninsula is volcanic in origin, and is mainly made of basalt, although there are also some limestone sediment formations. This place seems to be born from volcanic eruption not so long time ago that make an unique feeling of a walking through a ‘cosmic’ landscape. The semi-arid climate and its exposure to North winds have sculpted the low vegetation and explain the lack of trees.

On this large piece I have used a palette knife technique of painting to express especial power of the wind and sea.
