Mustering my wet courage

I tried

a pathetic dry

thinking you might be the source

of fire and vim

I found you trimmed

rather thin

and so deep

that no beard of fire

was visible

only apparent

were your shivers

stealthy looks

and furtive glances

you were spooked

more than anyone else

now can you dry your clothes

by slinking

in a deep pool!
