Volumetric Lighting – WIP

I think by now most of you know that one of my major goals for this year was mastering emissive surfaces. If you’ve been following any of my cyberpunk pieces then you’ve already seen some of my neon tests. You may have even seen some of my light bloom experiments, which have enjoyed a modest success

But what you may not know is that my other light related goal was to get a solid foundation in volumetric lighting. And let me tell you, this is a great time of the year for volumetrics...

The first thing I learned about volumetrics is that they're EXPENSIVE. Not saying that they aren't worth every last clock cycle, because they are but they slow my renders down to a crawl...

My render times are being quadrupled at the very least, so I don't want to render any of these more than once if I can help it. Spoiler alert- I can't help it yet, very much still in the experimental phase and did I mention these renders are costly? Had to wait until the weather cooled down before even starting the experiments, since these tests could melt my system in the summer

  1. First off sorry if I have missed your last posts. Been very busy myself. Second, number 4 is my favorite. The soft sunlight lighting is perfect. Of course this is just me as I do not know exactly where you are going with this…
