Voltive Head 2000 – 365 Photos Challenge #21

I love it when I have a little spare time prior to work because it gives me the chance to stop in at Skokie Northshore Sculpture Park where there are over 60 of these sculptures. I previously shared a sculpture titled  ‘Coming Home’ by Ron Gard, which you can view here. As for this feature it is titled ‘Voltive Head 2000’ by Stacy Latt Savage. My first thought when I seen this sculpture was, is that a head? Once i got up to it, it surely was that. Per, Skokie Northshore Sculpture Park ,the sculpture is meant to be viewed as a universal symbol of “humanness,” having no gender and/or ethnicity or race.  Stacy is very concerned about the scale of her work and wants to engage viewers through the size of her “sculptural head”. When it was first installed, ‘Votive Head‘ was made of steel framework with wooden slats, which can be viewed here.  The outdoor conditions resulted in deterioration and it had to be removed.   By doing that the structure was exposed and a new sculpture was created.

As for these photos they were taken with a Samsung Galaxy and shared as part of the 365 Photos Challenge, which the rules and guidelines are listed.
