Three Artistically Painted Garage Doors in Chicago’s Edgewater Neighborhood

The city of Chicago, Illinois is divided into 77 neighborhoods. I live in he Edgewater neighborhood. It’s located on the far north side of the city near Lake Michigan. It was annexed by the city in the late 19th century.

One day I was walking around the neighborhood and I found these three garages located near each other whose owners had painted – or had somebody else do it if they didn’t do it themselves – the garage doors. It’s not Rembrandt or Van Gogh but I thought it was a great way to make their garages more personal. Otherwise they pretty much all look like each other.

    • I like the rust spots on dumpsters. I’ve never seen any that were particularly decorated. Wh have a lot of graffiti but most of it is gang-related and not particularly interesting. There are some very interesting ones scattered around also. Also, the city has had some graffiti artists do murals on underpasses. I’ve started photographing some of them.
